This property had suffered neglect and been empty for several years. Our survey revealed many structural problems, including failed trusses and cob that had been eroded and fractured. A complete restoration with extensive repair work was designed. This included the restoration of the unusual cruck frames within the barn that was seperate from the house but had evidently been used as a detached dwelling. These crucks were sat on top of a first floor beam which in turn was supported by shoulder-headed posts at ground floor level. This arrangement has also been found since in No.4 Buller Square, Crediton.
